Original Music
for Film & Video
Our main focus is creating original compositions for film, video, animations,
commercials and multimedia presentations. The bulk of our work is independent
movie soundtracks. These are short shorts (under 10 minutes), shorts (half
hour length), and features (90 minutes or more). However, producing scores
for commercials and multimedia (see below under Flash™) are
equally challenging. The goal is to work with the producer or director
of the project and create the right vision match while making it unique
and not "cut-out." Our facility is more akin to the machine
shop that creates one of a kind works as needed rather than assembly line
packages and templates. Click to taste our sound
sampler or read the case studies.
Sound Effects/Loops
for Flash™
Flash is taking over the web. For one it creates unique and diverse looking
web sites. Another reason is it streams and compacts a great deal into
a small file. One of its strong points is the use of music and sound effects
lacking in html pages. While sound and music are great to include (Flash
sites without them feel naked), the compression of wav files to mp3 still
eats up a great deal of file space in .swfs. Having worked with several
Flash designers as well as our own promo flash projects, we know that
having the right optimized wav file can make a large difference in sliding
under the kilobyte limits.
IFP custom fabricates our own sound
effects to your specs that many "out of the box" sound effects
included with the software or on compilation CDs lack. How many times
have you heard the same roll over sounds used?
IFP makes the greatest
loops
of music for Flash sites. A loop will break suspended disbelief if it
has a noticeable edit. A fade in/fade out can ease that but we like to
make sure they're seamless.
Sound Design for
Film & Animation
One of the latest experiments has come about from working with captured
sound effects and digitally recombining them to create a new aural experience.
By translating this into the sound design for film and animations, IFP
has produced some interesting effects in contributing to story telling.
A scene may have the protagonist striking or breaking an object. To add
dimension to his actions we'll take the sound of smashing glass and digitally
map it to the sound of fabric ripping. The blended white noises heighten
the listening experience and take mediocre folley to the next level, almost
avant-garde.
Digital Archiving
Records and tapes decay with time. While record companies have reissued
many works on CD, there are still an abundant amount of albums that will
never see it to digital due to lack of consumer demand. . Let's face it.
The most Martin Denny you'll ever see is a greatest hits package.
Home recordings and basement tapes are also prime candidates for digital
facelifting and storage. While we don't encourage the translating of works
that have already been reissued in the digital 16bit medium, it sometimes
is necessary to move material around in your personal library. IFP does
conversions of both tape and record where we not only archive the work
but also remove pops, clicks, tape hiss inadditon to level adjustment.
For example, a rare solo version of Chet Atkins' Frankie and
Johnny was archived and the volume mix was corrected by normalizing
and recompressing to compensate for the archaic recording equipment used.
I know it sounds hard to believe but its true. Please see FAQ
for rates on archiving your material as well our case
studies.
